Groupe La Poste // CSR REPORT 2022

Becoming a leading player in the rational management of resources 5 WORKING TO ACCELERATE ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSITION FOR ALL ■

More than ten years ago La Poste positioned itself in services related to the circular economy and support for the sectors, with two subsidiaries dedicated to the circular economy, Recygo and Nouvelle Attitude. Since 2012, La Poste has been collecting and recycling paper and cardboard from offices. In 2018, it joined forces with the Suez group, which is renowned for its expertise in the collection and recycling of all types of waste and in downstream waste recovery processes. This collaboration led to the creation of a joint venture, Recygo , which has become one of the main players in the collection and recovery of office waste. All office waste is concerned: paper, cardboard, bottles, cans, cups, cartridges, masks, etc. On small sites, office waste is collected by postmen, avoiding the need for dedicated rounds (larger sites and certain flows are collected by Suez). The waste is then sorted by Nouvelle Attitude, a subsidiary of La Poste, or by partners from the social and solidarity-based economy. Subsequently, the waste is recovered by French service providers promoting local employment. Recygo has launched Renoovo, the first subscription that fully covers the office paper cycle: from the supply of recycled paper to its recycling after use. Renoovo also offers a range of eco-designed supplies made in France. Nouvelle Attitude is a wholly-owned subsidiary of La Poste Groupe that provides integration, sorting, qualification and recovery of materials through recycling, repair, reuse and reconditioning. Created in 2008, it is now located at six sites in France to act in the heart of the regions. It has two missions – one environmental and the other social – which together contribute to local economic development. Its historical core business is the sorting and packaging of office paper and cardboard for recycling, the destruction of archives and the sorting of books. Nouvelle Attitude develops other logistics and handling services for the repair, reuse and recovery of materials and equipment. Its new activities include national and international cargo bag sorting, repair and assembly of trolleys, dismantling and repair of IT tools, cleaning of bicycles, sorting and cleaning of badges, preparation of anti-waste fruit and vegetable baskets, cleaning of urban furniture. In August 2022, Nouvelle Attitude integrated into its activities the Recy’Clo project, developed by intrapreneur employees, giving birth to a new activity of reconditioning bicycles from company fleets, local authorities and mobility operators. In early 2023, this activity was carried out at a partner disability employment organisation (ESAT) based in the Vosges, in a partner integration workshop based in Strasbourg, and at the Nouvelle Attitude site in Tours. Nouvelle Attitude ensures the return to long-term employment of people in the process of integration, either in its establishments or as subcontractors to its corporate and local authority customers (“NA in situ”). In 2022, thanks to the services of Recygo and Nouvelle Attitude, 110,970 metric tonnes of materials were collected for recycling and reuse. Other La Poste Groupe companies also offer their logistics services for the circular economy. With their dense regional network and responsible logistics, they are well placed to collect various types of recoverable goods, in particular on the principle of

ensuring the logistics of the first mile (collection) in reverse logistics, i.e. using the return journeys of existing delivery or distribution flows to pool services. This is why they are developing various logistics and collection solutions, which are multi-channel, multi-product, multi-customer, multi-local and responsible, to serve the circular economy. Several customers have chosen La Poste Groupe companies to collect items to be reused or recycled. For example, for several years Nespresso has chosen La Poste Groupe to offer its corporate customers the collection of their used capsules. At the end of 2022, the pharmaceutical group Novo Nordisk launched Returpen, the first-ever diabetic pen recycling programme in France. In four pilot regions, users of Novo Nordisk injection pens are offered two options: either a recovery envelope to be returned by La Poste, or the possibility of returning the used pens to one of the 2,000 partner pharmacies. Sogec, a La Poste subsidiary, designed and produced the pre-stamped cardboard envelopes including safety wedges, as well as the associated explanatory flyers, designed the ordering website, manages stock and ships collection kits, ensures the traceability of shipments, and provides after-sales support for patients. Over the past three years, La Poste Groupe has been providing its know-how and services to eco-organisations to develop circular systems. The eco-organisations of the extended producer responsibility (EPR) waste electrical and electronic equipment sector offer private individuals the option to simply send their old mobile phones by post. The group can also be a logistics service provider for larger volumes, by collecting at various points in the region (stores, companies, etc.), by optimising transport while promoting equipment traceability. La Poste is conducting experiments with eco-organisations from several EPR sectors to help them expand their network of voluntary drop-off points. One of them was implemented from March 2023 with the deployment of a new service in 450 post offices (all offices in Poitou-Charentes, Gironde and Garonne). From now on, individuals can bring their old mobile phone to the post office for reuse or, failing that, for recycling. La Poste and La Poste Mobile have selected a specialised reconditioner, with a data erasure guarantee. This service is managed and financed by the eco organisation Ecologic. A national roll-out is under consideration. Colissimo and Shop2Shop (by Chronopost) support the development of second-hand sales between private individuals by providing facilitating services such as pick-up and drop-off using the Pickup network or mailboxes. La Poste supports manufacturers of new reusable packaging. Structuring initiatives for the reusable packaging sector were carried out in 2022: ■ La Poste created an adapted process and offer to industrialise the logistics of returning reusable pouches. ■ La Poste initiated the development of an AFNOR specification, published in October 2022, to define the guidelines for reusable shipping packaging. ■ To progress further in technical and CSR terms, La Poste created a certification defining the technical, environmental and societal standards that guarantee the successful delivery of reusable packaging.
