RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL CERTIFICATION
Highlights in 2022 and early 2023
The Responsible Digital (RD) certification makes it possible to identify and bring together all the organisations that are committed to reducing the impact of digital technology by implementing strategies such as those of La Poste Groupe. This certification, thanks to its two levels, allows all organisations to have their procedures validated according to their progress and to commit to a process of continuous improvement.
■ February 2022: certification (Level 2) of the i-Team (group) ■ May 2023: certification (Level 2) of the Services-Mail-Parcels IS Department ■ Early 2023: launch of a self-assessment by the BA ISD, audit scheduled for September ■ 2023: preparation for the certification of the Retail Customers and Digital Services business unit / DSOD ■ 2023: preparation for the certification of the DSEM
RESPONSIBLE PURCHASING
Highlights in 2022
La Poste Groupe is gradually rolling out its responsible IT purchasing policy by integrating ESG and responsible digital criteria into all of the group’s IT purchases. ■ 100% of projects will be the subject of an opportunity study as regards the responsible digital purchasing approach (application criteria, selection and/or contractual clauses, or progress plan) ■ 100% of applications include a questionnaire at the application stage ■ 10% ESG criteria in the group’s rating criteria for all consultations by 2025
In 2022, the IT purchasing working group responsible for the group’s Responsible Digital Committee contributed to numerous consultations with ESG criteria. The purchasing process is part of the pre-defined procedures for screening the contracts to be operated during the year, with a multidisciplinary cross-functional team (IS / CSR / technical departments), from the contract notice to contractualisation: ■ optimisation of WEEE ■ repairs and reuse
■ qualification of 2023 mobiles ■ group hosting strategy study ■ equipment: X86 servers
FOOTPRINT
MATURITY
The carbon footprint of La Poste and La Banque Postale’s IT assets has been measured every two years since 2015 and was updated in 2018, 2020 (including inventory) and 2022, with the extension to the group scope. ■ The consumption of digital equipment in 2022 was estimated at 216 GWh. ■ The volume of the associated GHG emissions is relatively low (36,559 metric tonnes), due to the fact that the electricity used to power the buildings and equipment is entirely renewable.
In 2022, the group estimates its total equipment fleet at nearly 718,000 phones, computers, tablets, servers, copiers, etc. It was thus down by 12.5% compared to 2020. The associated electricity consumption is also down, by 19%, due to a decrease in the number of employees and changes in the scope of data calculation. The share of consumption related to infrastructure is up significantly due to the migration to the cloud and the multiplication of servers. To improve its digital footprint, the group is implementing the following actions: ■ improvement of the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (repair policy, promotion of external reuse, collection of mobile phones, etc.) allowing the monitoring of the average life indicators and the rate of user equipment; ■ responsible design of digital services, going well beyond mere software eco design (complete life cycle analysis); ■ skills development plans (training, with certification possible); ■ implementation of an energy management system aimed at reducing energy consumption and raising user awareness of eco-actions. To complete its footprint measurement with the emissions and consumption related to outsourced data centre services, in 2023 the group will have a carbon footprint tool called “My IT Footprint”. A tool for measuring the carbon footprint, it includes the measurement of energy consumption and GHG emissions and, in the medium term, the consumption of water and resources. It will enable all of the group’s IS Departments to continuously measure and account for their own footprint in order to ensure compliance with the GHG trajectory. At the end of 2022, the scope of digital Scope 3 concerned the outsourced services of data centres, i.e. hosting, data hosting, outsourcing and cloud management/Saas*.
