2.3 INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE

International insurance premium income was €2.9 billion in 2023. Written premiums reached €2.1 billion (73% of the total) in property and casualty insurance and €0.8 billion in life and health insurance.

The Group is present in nine countries, mainly in Europe and with growth areas in Asia. The table below presents Groupama’s rankings in the major countries where the Group is present:

GREECE

The Italian market was up +6.6% in non ‑ life insurance and down -3.7% in life insurance as at the end of September 2023. Groupama Assicurazioni generated €1,224 million in premium income as at 31 December 2023, principally via a network of general agents across the entire territory and via the banking channel, as part of partnerships with regional banks in northern Italy. As at 31 December 2023, premium income reached €880 million in property and casualty insurance, €233 million in savings/retirement, and €111 million in health and protection insurance.

The Greek market was up 9.9% in non ‑ life insurance and 7.8% in life insurance at the end of November 2023. The €213 million in premium income as at 31 December 2023 was generated mainly by brokers and exclusive branches. Premium income totalled €91 million in property and casual insurance, €69 million in retirement savings, and €52 million in health and protection insurance.
