FROM CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY TO SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE Priority 3: reduce environmental footprint by a resource-efficient and carbon-neutral real estate

Energy mix 7.5.1.3.4 In 2017, Gecina continued its efforts to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix. One study in particular was conducted to improve the operating efficiency of the solar panels installed on nine portfolio buildings. Next year Gecina will report the emissions avoided due to the installation of this equipment. Two buildings now rely on a geothermal system to handle their total heating and cooling needs: Grande Halle in Lyon, delivered in 2017, and soon the Be Issy building. In terms of development, Gecina plans to install photovoltaic panels on eight of its buildings slated for reconstruction. Factoring in uses and the green energy contracts of buildings under its control, the proportion of renewable energy in Gecina's energy mix is 39% (versus 42% in 2016). That three-point decline is mainly related to the decreased use of renewable energy in the conventional energy mixes provided by RTE and the CPCU network. Six buildings that were already under this type of contract last year were excluded from the scope this year due to reconstruction plans.

Excluding uses from tenants, 27 residential buildings emit less than 27 kgCO 2 /m2 and have been awarded labels A, B or C. Between 2008 and 2017, the share of buildings with E to H labels fell from 66% to 31%, reflecting the improvements Gecina has made to its property portfolio, particularly in terms of the increase in buildings rated class A to D (34% of assets in 2008 compared to 69% in 2017).
