Share-based payments 5.4. The cost of the benefits granted to employees under stock option, free share and employee share ownership plans, which amounted to €11.1 million (€22.8 million in 2018), is charged to Profit from recurring operations . It consisted of a charge of €9.1 million corresponding to benefits granted to employees, mainly in respect of free performance share plans (€19.9 million in 2018, including €15.2 million in respect of the We Share 2018 employee share ownership plan and

€4.5 million in respect of free performance share plans), social security contributions relating to these plans for €2.1 million (€2.5 million in 2018), and management costs for the remainder. 5.4.1.
