Cash equivalentscorrespondto cash advancesmade to GIE PSA Trésorerie,managerof the cashpool for the Group’smanufacturing and sales companies.The funds are immediatelyavailableto meet the Company’sday-to-daycash needs and bear interest at a rate based onthe average monthly EONIA.

The cash advancesare used by GIE PSA Trésorerieto meet the short-term financing needs of Group subsidiaries. External investmentsconsist of units in moneymarket funds with a capital guaranteeand a guaranteedyield, retail certificatesof depositand moneymarketnotesat overnight rates. At 31 December 2019, advances to GIE PSA Trésorerie totalled €4,684.0 million.
