In 2017, five work accidents occurred at Gecina-owned developments, causing 176 days of lost time. The rates of frequency and severity at these sites remained significantly below the average rates of construction companies in France during 2016. As part of its overall strategy and commitment to clients, Gecina strove to work more closely with suppliers and to lay the foundations for a partnership approach. A work plan was submitted to the largest suppliers of the Residential Department in December 2017. It provides in particular for: the application by the suppliers of three key ■ commitments made by Gecina in its client relations: quality, responsiveness, effectiveness; the evaluation of the quality of suppliers’ work according ■ to five criteria (general quality, cost, economic strength of the company, meeting deadlines, observance of safety rules), followed by inclusion of a CSR assessment as of March 2018; the formulation of corrective action plans, or even ■ sanctions, in the event of non-compliance with terms and conditions.
The structure of the new CSR roadmap for 2020 bears out the importance of the responsible purchasing policy for changing the practices of suppliers in keeping with the performance targets set by Gecina in its strategic priorities. The following areas have been identified to work on: accelerate the assessment of the CSR performance of ■ suppliers and the consideration thereof in their selection by tailoring the questionnaire as much as possible to the key issues of each area of business; include in the contracts the reporting of certain key ■ environmental and social data for suppliers with major CSR impacts, including minimal carbon impact and the accident rates for work sites; identify the portion of requests sent by suppliers ■ (requests for information, payment, contact) relating to payment delays in order to accelerate payment in the event of difficulty; share efforts with other companies in the sector, ■ particularly in order to improve the practices of rank 2 and 3 suppliers; continue discussions with suppliers to identify as early as ■ possible innovative solutions to satisfy Gecina's CSR goals.
