SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT Environmental information
DESCRIPTION OF ACUTE AND CHRONIC PHYSICAL RISKS AND MAIN ADAPTATION LEVERS
Area of activity
Extreme phenomena (extreme temperature, heavy rain, storms, fl ooding)
Main adaptation levers
● Fuel cycle plants: risks of a fall in production or temporary shutdowns (sites in the south of France, in particular) ● Dif fi culties in cooling certain facilities identi fi ed ● Increased risk of a violent Mediterranean episode with flooding and damage to the effluent basins of the establishments concerned ● Sharp increase in extreme heat peaks at the Canadian and Kazakh sites (+3°C for maximum temperatures according to the RCP 8.5 in 2050), and an increase in the intensity of extreme precipitation events ● Risks of a fall in production or temporary shutdown of sites (loss of electricity supply, breakdown and loss of production equipment, flooding, and damage to dikes or wastewater basins, etc. )
● Resizing of water
management systems (dry period and violent Mediterranean episode)
Plants
● Speci fi c studies of resilience to climate hazards ● Resizing of water management systems
Mining
Increased extreme temperature events and intense precipitation, especially in the Mediterranean region
● Monitoring of vulnerabilities and adaptation of strategic suppliers ● Geographic diversi fi cation of supplies ● Integration of an outsourced activity in the event of a mismatch
● Signi fi cant delays and disruption in the supply of manufactured or chemical products, particularly from certain suppliers
Suppliers
● Logistical dif fi culties (destruction of roads, traf fi c interruption, disruptions) related to inclement weather and heat peaks that threaten road and rail traf fi c ● On the roads used, the increase in maximum temperatures is +5°C in North America, +4.4°C in Central Asia, according to the RCP 8.5 in 2050 ● Risk of partial or total unavailability of ports (flooding by tides during storms)
● Diversi fi cation of logistics routes ● Speci fi c studies on transport conditions
Radioactive material flows
