After graduating from the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP), Patrick Thomas chaired the Lancaster group from 1997 to 2000, and from 2000 to 2003 served as Chief Executive Officer of the British company William Grant & Sons. Patrick Thomas served as Chief Executive Officer of Hermès International from 1989 to 1997. On July 15, 2003 he rejoined the Hermès group as Chief Executive Officer of Hermès International before being appointed manager, a role which he performed from September 15, 2004 until his retirement on January 31, 2014.
