SUPPORTING THE ENERGY, ECOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL TRANSITION IN LOCAL REGIONS

Energéco

a total of €485 million. Located in France, most of these transactions will enable the installation of an additional 113 MW

For over 15 years, BPCE Energéco has helped finance more than 4.8 GW in electricity and heat production from renewable sources. In 2020, it arranged financing for 31 deals representing

of power.

BPCE ENERGÉCO FLAGSHIP ACHIEVEMENT IN 2020 BPCE Energéco, in partnership with Hélia Conseil, a financial engineering structure created by Caisse d’Epargne Aquitaine Poitou-Charentes and Caisse d’Epargne Bretagne Pays de Loire, arranged the refinancing of the acquisition of 14 hydroelectric power plants located in the French West Indies, for the Valorem Group. This operation is helping to rebalance the energy mix in Guadeloupe, which is still largely dependent on fossil fuels. It also allows this operator, based in the Nouvelle-Aquitaineregion, to assert its position as the leading producer of renewable electricity in the West Indian archipelago.

Crédit Coopératif Crédit Coopératif is mainly active in the solar and photovoltaic segments, as well as hydroelectricity production, and has more recently extended its expertise to biogas and heating networks. In addition to financing renewable energy projects, Crédit Coopératif has positioned itself as a funder of the energy transition. Crédit Coopératif participated in the financing of a portfolio developed by NEWHEAT of five solar thermal plants representing 28 MWthp for a total investment of €15 million. This financing operation includes the establishment of bank financing, as well as the participation of three regional energy transition funds as minority shareholders of the holding company grouping the projects: Terra Energies (Nouvelle-AquitaineRegion), AREC Occitanie (Occitanie Region), and OSER ENR (Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region). Thanks to this operation, we are supporting NEWHEAT in its ambition to massively decarbonize the heating sector in France. The power plants are expected to avoid around 2,925 tonnes of CO 2 emissions per year ( i.e. 58,516 tonnes over 20 years). Crédit Coopératif co-arranged, with Helia Conseil, the financing of the Bordeaux St-Jean-de-Belcier heating network as part of the “Bordeaux-Euratlantique” urban project promoted by the French government as a national interest operation. The total amount of the operation amounts to €25 million and will make it possible to connect 800,000 m 2 of activities and 15,000 housing units through a network 19 km long and supplied by so-called “recoverable” energy, mainly from the treatment of household waste from the Bègles incineration plant. The network will therefore be supplied 90% by renewable and recovered energy, making it one of the most virtuous heating networks in France. Thanks to this network, 8,900 tonnes of CO 2 per year are not emitted into the atmosphere, i.e. the equivalent of 350 Paris-Bordeaux round-trip flights per year.

Banque Palatine Banque Palatine finances the construction of renewable energy production infrastructures: mainly solar photovoltaic and onshore wind. This specialized financing activity represents an annual loan production of between €60 and €90 million, depending on the year. The projects financed are located in France, including Corsica and the French Overseas Territories, representing approximately 12 to 15 projects per year. Banque Palatine is referenced with the main French sponsors (project leaders), in particular medium-sized companies in the sector. The bank regularly uses synergieswith the Group to increase its response capacity. In line with its commercial positioning, Banque Palatine’s strategy is to leverage its financing to provide its customers with global support, particularly in terms of interest rate hedging, documentary credits (for the purchase of equipment), and bank guarantees (under calls for tenders organized by the French Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition). Today, the bank’s renewable energy project financing portfolio represents approximately €200 million. Caisse d’Epargne Provence-Alpes-Corse CEPAC (Caisse d’Epargne Provence-Alpes-Corse)has been the main institution among the Caisses d’Epargne in this area since 2015. Through its action, it has become a recognizedoperator to local renewable energy players and major national developers in both wind and solar power. In 2019, CEPAC arranged and co-arranged a total of €667 million in transactions. In the first half of 2020, in the context of the Covid-19 healthand economic crisis, the momentum did not slow down, as CEPAC arranged an additional €351 million in operations.
