NON-FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE STATEMENT

Introduction

Beyond the core business, offering banking and insurance products and services, the way in which it is carried out is of prime importance. Groupe BPCE ensures that it has long-term vision and targets that account for social and environmental impacts in addition to economic considerations. This is why, on the strength of its values, the Group has been committed for several years to strengthening its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and increasingly contributing to the fight against climate change. The SDGs are a common language built around 17 global goals, broken down into 169 targets. The Group is part of this dynamic and reports on it in its Non-Financial Performance Statement (DPEF). Its sustainable development policy focuses, though not exclusively, on the following SDGs: transparency and the cooperative business model (SDG 16); • banking inclusion (SDGs 1 and 10); • financing the energy, ecological and social transition (SDGs 7, • 8 and 12); a strong local presence (SDG 11); • objectives for gender equality in the workplace and the • inclusion of persons with disabilities (SDGs 5 and 10); boosting employees’ employability (SDG 4). • Groupe BPCE has identified strategic targets and monitoring indicators with regard to its actual contribution. To do this, all the initiatives described in the non-financial performance statement and all the risks identified by the Group have been analyzed with regard to the SDGs.

This analysis identified two types of strategic goals for the Group: the SDGs for which Groupe BPCE makes a positive • contribution, i.e. action taken by the Group to facilitate the achievement of the goals by 2030 the SDGs for which Groupe BPCE has taken action to • minimize its identified risks. This analysis is represented in the diagram below, organized according to the three categories of actions that define the Group: Banking company (in reference to the banking and insurance business), Responsible company (in reference to internal operations), Cooperative company (in reference to the Group’s regional roots and cooperative values). The diagram shows the SDGs and the Group’s strategic targets, as well as the actions taken, providing a clear, transparent overview of Groupe BPCE’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. Finally, all the indicators included in the NFPS (non-financial performance statement) were studied to identify ten major indicators for monitoring Groupe BPCE’s contribution to the SDGs. Conscious of the important role of financial institutions in the fight against climate change, Groupe BPCE decided to join the CDP and answer its Climate Questionnaire, thereby supporting the internationally-harmonized disclosure of information on climate change. Two parts of the NFPS are devoted to the actions implemented to combat climate change.
