New strategic operations

In 2020, BPCE acquired CFF’s stake in Crédit Foncier Immobilier (CFI), now BPCE Solutions Immobilières and integrated into BPCE’s Financial Solutions & Expertise division. Discussions that were started in 2019 between Groupe BPCE and La Banque Postale with a view to extending their industrial partnership continued. In 2020, Natixis and La Banque Postale finalized the merger of the interest rate and insurance management activities of Ostrum Asset Management and La Banque Postale Asset Management. This merger marks the creation of a leader in asset management in Europe within Ostrum AM, which is 55% owned by Natixis (through its subsidiary Natixis InvestmentManagers) and 45% by La Banque Postale.

BPCE took a stake in the European EPI (European Payments Initiative) project launched by 16 major European banks. The objective is to create a unified pan-European payment solution, offering a bank card, a digital wallet, and peer-to-peer payment solutions based on the instant transfer infrastructure. BPCE has entered into exclusive negotiations with Ripplewood Advisors LLC related to the proposed disposal of the entire share capital of Fidor Bank AG.

Next strategic plan

In a context of uncertainties, but also of opportunities, Groupe BPCE has begun preparing its future strategic plan, which will be communicated in 2021. In this context, BPCE wants to acquire new strategic manoeuvrability and a simplified operating framework.

Thus, in February 2021, BPCE SA, the majority shareholder of Natixis SA, announced its intention to acquire the 29.3% of the share capital of Natixis SA that it does not hold (1) and filed a simplified takeover bid with the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF).
