She joined AkzoNobel as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of management in 2014. Before joining AkzoNobel, Maëlys Castella worked at Air Liquide since 2000, where she held various Senior Management positions in Finance and Marketing before she was appointed Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer in 2013. Her early career was spent in the oil and gas industry working during eight years for Elf, now part of Total Group. Maëlys Castella has a Master’s degree in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania (U.S.A.) and the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP). She has also an Engineering Degree from the École Centrale de Paris.
